The Background

GHIT Client – a leading healthcare provider (P2) was using an on-premises Electronic Health Record (EHR) system for patient data management, but the system lacked key features and functionalities required for modern healthcare practices. The client was exploring help to move to the new EMR Platform to cloud to improve flexibility, scalability, ROI, and data security.

The Challenge

The client faced several challenges related to outdated EHR functionalities and the urgent need to migrate the new EHR system to the cloud. The client needed a solution that can provide robust features and functionalities of the modern EHR Platform (P4) and to migrate it to the cloud to take advantage of the benefits of a cloud based EHR.

The GHIT Solution

The healthcare provider engaged GHIT Digital to implement and integrate Oracle Cerner EMR/EHR system and migrate it to Oracle Cloud. Team GHIT implemented the following key features and functionalities of Oracle Cerner EMR/EHR for the client.

Analytics and reporting: GHIT Digital implemented Oracle Cerner EMR/EHR's advanced analytics and reporting capabilities to enable the client users to access real-time insights into patient care, clinical workflows, and financial performance.

Clinical Decision Support (CDS): GHIT Digital configured the clinical decision support module of Oracle Cerner EHR system to provide real-time alerts, reminders, and guidance to clinicians based on patient-specific information and clinical best practices.

Data Interoperability: GHIT Digital integrated Oracle Cerner EHR system with third-party healthcare systems, including Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Radiology Information Systems (RIL), to enable seamless data exchange and information sharing.

Patient Data Management (PDM): GHIT Digital configured Oracle Cerner EMR/EHR system to provide end-to-end patient data management, including patient registration, appointment scheduling, clinical documentation, and billing.

Migration to Oracle Cloud: GHIT Digital also migrated the Cerner EMR/EHR system to Oracle Cloud, which provided the huge benefits. They included but not limited to:

• Enhanced data security: Oracle Cloud provides robust data security measures, including advanced encryption, access control, and data backup and recovery capabilities.
• Improved scalability: The cloud-based Oracle Cerner EMR/EHR system can easily scale up or down based on the client's changing needs and the volume of patient data.
• Increased flexibility: The cloud-based Oracle Cerner EMR/EHR system can be accessed from any location with an internet connection, allowing clinicians and staff to access patient data and clinical workflows remotely.

The steps involved in implementing Oracle Cerner EMR/EHR system and migrating to Oracle Cloud were:
